MadTree is a certified B Corporation!
What is a certified B Corporation?
Certified B Corporations™ (B Corps) are businesses that meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. It’s a way to drive positive change in our economic system to impact all stakeholders – not just shareholders. We are assessed on how our business benefits our workers, communities, customers, and our planet. The certification doesn’t stop at the assessment, it encourages us to continually evolve our operations through benchmarking, goal setting and improvement.
How does certification work?
B Corp certification is a lengthy, rigorous process that evaluates five pillars of business including: governance, environment, community, workers, and customers. To become certified, a business must first demonstrate a net positive impact among these five pillars. This means scoring at least 80 (out of 200) points in the B Impact Assessment.
MadTree scored highest in the community pillar in large part due to their impact work with nonprofit partners that include the Cincinnati Parks Foundation, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Groundwork ORV and Adventure Crew. These organizations are a part of the 1% For the Planet network in which MadTree is also a member, donating 1% of all sales to support local environmental initiatives.
Why is it important to MadTree?
MadTree has always been rooted in purpose. Driven to craft great beer – but more importantly – to build a business dedicated to doing good. Becoming B Corp certified has been a mission of ours since we started this mad little dream. This certification mirrors our vision, values and beliefs. It coincides with why we exist – to connect people to nature and each other, and to use our business as a force for good.
There’s an ever-growing community of Certified B Corps across industries around the world committed to using business as a force for good. We’re proud to join this global movement of businesses that include sustainability powerhouses like Patagonia, AllBirds, Cotopaxi, Toms, and Ben & Jerry’s.
